When I was younger, I often found myself getting stressed out by difficult math courses, remembering which classes I had, and trying to manage all of my assignments. I struggled to keep all of my due dates straight, my classes on track, and often forgot that it was important to have fun, too. However, I finally realized that as a student in a rigorous college prep program, I needed to implement simple, time-saving steps to ease into each week with barely any stress at all.
The first step is to clean and organize your work space. No one wants to start their Monday with a messy desk or bedroom. By simply clearing the clutter, you are able to better focus on the task at hand, and not waste anytime attending to last week’s messes.
The second step should be done in the afternoon or evening of each day to help ease the rush of the next morning. Make sure you put everything you will need for school where it belongs: put together an outfit, set aside a bag for anything you might need after school, and make a lunch in advance. These small steps will all make a major difference in your morning.
Third, you should log onto your school’s online planner at the start of each week and write down any assignments in your own planner. This will help remind you what you need to prioritize for the week in terms of your school assignments.
Finally, you should also write down your personal activities for the week including any practices, games, rehearsals, tutoring, babysitting, and get-togethers. This will help you know when you are going to have the time to do your schoolwork, when you are available to socialize, and what you have to look forward to during the week.
Setting aside just a few moments each day will help your week go smoothly, and you won’t have to feel stressed about school work or extracurricular activities. It’s truly incredible how a few short minutes can lower your stress level for the entire week and help you find joy in all of your activities.
